about

Last year I was invited to submit a Christmas themed song for a compilation (to be released in 2020) I'd recently experienced one of the worst Christmases in my life. It followed a key anniversary relating to the passing of a loved one. I was struggling with the enforced seasonal cheeriness and chose to channel my feelings into this song.

lyrics

Santa Baby's playing on the radio tonight
I had to turn it off because it didn't feel right
I'm sitting in the front room, staring at the floor
And I don't believe in Christmas any more

Snow is on the way now – there'll be some tears too
Every hour that passes I only think of you
I see you there in front of me the way it was before
And I don't believe in Christmas any more

No bells, no lights.
Don't want no Christmas tree
This time round it's all the same to me

I hear somebody laughing - I'm trying not to cry
Thinking 'bout the present that I don't have to buy
Wishing that for one last time
You'd walk in through that door
And I don't believe in Christmas any more

No bells, no lights.
No angels, that's for sure
And I don't believe in Christmas
I don't believe in Christmas
I don't believe in Christmas any more
